cPanel - What Is It and How Do I Log In

cPanel Login

The cPanel facility is the platform which is used to administer services linked to your domain name.

Through cPanel, you can do the following:

  • Create and modify DNS entries.
  • Add, remove and manage e-mail accounts.
  • Adjust your spam settings.
  • Upload and maintain your website.

There are a number of different features linked to the above, each of which is sorted into different categories.

Logging in to cPanel:

Once your hosting package has been set up, you will receive an e-mail with the following subject line: Hosting Account Information - example.com.

This e-mail contains the user name and password for your cPanel account, as well as two links to the cPanel login page (see below):

Login Details for cPanel

User Name: example
Password: examplepassword

Control Panel URL: https://cpanel.example.com
Alternative Control Panel URL: https://servername.sadomain.com:2083

To log in, simply copy and paste the Control Panel URL into your browser. When the page loads, enter the User Name and Password. Once you have done so, you will be re-directed to your cPanel account.

Note: If you have applied for a hosting package with SA Domain, but your domain name is registered elsewhere then you will need to use the Alternative Control Panel URL.

Accessing your cPanel account via the Client Area:

  • Log in to the Client Area.
  • Click on the Services button.
  • Select the required domain. This will open the Manage Product page.
  • Scroll down to the Log In To section.
  • Click on the cPanel button. You will be re-directed to your cPanel account.

I have tried opening the URL, but am unable to get to the page:

Should you find that you are unable to open the login page, the best thing to do is to try opening a slightly different address to the Alternative Control Panel URL: https://servername.sadomain.com:2083

If you are able to open this page then it means that your network may be configured to block ports 2082 and 2083. You will need to ask your network administrator to open these ports for you.
