How Does Billing Work

how does billing work

When you apply for a service, be it a domain registration or a new ADSL account, a pro forma invoice will be issued once you have completed the final step of the order form.

Several payment methods are catered for:

  • Credit card.
  • Debit order.
  • PayPal.
  • Bank transfer (EFT) - this includes direct deposit.
  • SID Instant Eft | Online payment without a credit card

While domain names are invoiced on an annual basis only, you have the option to be invoiced monthly or annually for hosting packages and ADSL accounts. Once payment has been received, you will be issued with a tax invoice.

How will I be notified that an invoice is due?

Invoices are sent via e-mail to the e-mail address which you use to log in to the Client Area. If this address is no longer valid, you will need to update it as soon as possible. You can also add a secondary contact to your account if you have an accounts department which manages your billing for you.

When are invoices issued?

Domain renewal invoices are sent three months prior to the expiry date because domains are immediately suspended by the respective domain registries.

Monthly invoices for ADSL accounts and hosting packages are sent on the same day that the service was set up (e.g.: If your hosting was activated on the 1st day of the month, then you will receive an invoice on the 1st day of each month).

Annual invoices for ADSL accounts and hosting packages are sent on the date that the service was activated (e.g.: If your hosting was set up on the 2nd of June, then all future invoices will be sent on the 2nd of June each year).

I haven't been receiving invoices. What should I do?

You can check whether any invoices are due via the Client Area (see Viewing Your Invoices Online).

You will need to ensure that the e-mail address to which the invoices are sent is valid. Should the e-mail address be correct, then it is recommended that you check your junk / spam folder.

What happens if payment is late?

If an invoice is overdue, reminders will be sent via e-mail. Should payment not be received after the third reminder, your hosting package or ADSL accounts will be suspended.

Domains which are not renewed on time are suspended on the expiry date.

Are there any penalties for late payment?

There are no penalties for late payment of invoices linked to ADSL accounts or hosting packages.

You may incur a penalty for late domain renewal, depending on how much time passes after the expiry date. Initially, only the renewal fee is required to renew a domain. However, the various domain registries eventually place expired domains into what is referred to as the Redemption Grace Period. This essentially means that you have additional time to renew the domain, but will be charged an additional fee to do so. The redemption fees vary from one domain type to the next.

Should your domain enter the redemption grace period, please contact our accounts department to confirm the fee.

What happens if payment is not made at all?

Should payment not be received then your ADSL account or hosting package will automatically be removed. Any e-mail accounts or websites will be deleted; if you wish to re-activate your hosting package, you will need to re-create your e-mail accounts and upload a new copy of your website.

In the case of an expired domain name, the domain may either be auctioned off by the respective registry and / or eventually deleted. When a domain is deleted, it becomes available for registration again.
