What are my E-Mail Settings?

When configuring your e-mail address in a program such as Outlook or on a mobile device, there are certain settings which you need to use. This article covers the settings you should use for both POP and IMAP e-mail accounts.

 

POP Account Settings (SSL disabled):

 

  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: disabled
  • Port: 110
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: disabled
  • Port: 587
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)

 

POP Account Settings (SSL enabled):

 

  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: enabled
  • Port: 995
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: enabled
  • Port: 465
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)

 

 

IMAP Account Settings (SSL Disabled)

 

  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: disabled
  • Port: 143
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: disabled
  • Port: 587
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)

 

IMAP Account Settings (SSL Enabled)

 

  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: enabled
  • Port: 993
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)
  • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • SSL / Encryption: enabled
  • Port: 465
  • User Name: This must be your entire e-mail address (e.g.: joesoap@example.com)

 

 

Note: Some devices will state that a user name for the outgoing mail server is optional. In order to be to send e-mail, you must enter your user name and password.
