iPad Series - Creating a POP Account

The following steps will assist you in setting your e-mail account up on your Apple iPad
:


1. Open the Mail app.

2. On the Welcome to Mail page, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by Add Account and then Other.

3. You will be prompted for the following information:

  • Name: Enter your name. This is the name that recipients will see next to your e-mail address.
  • Address: Enter your e-mail address (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: Enter the password for this account.
  • Description: This makes it easier to find your mailbox should you have more than one account set up.


Tap Save to continue.

4. On the New Account page, select POP. If the fields for Name, Email and Description are empty, fill these out.

5. Enter the following details for the Incoming Mail Server:

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.sadomain.co.za)
  • User Name: Enter your entire e-mail address using lowercase characters (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: Enter the password for this account.

6. Enter the following details for the Outgoing Mail Server:

  • Host Name: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.sadomain.co.za)
  • User Name: Enter your entire e-mail address using lowercase characters (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: Enter the password for this account.

Tap Next to continue.

Your iPad will check the incoming and outgoing settings. During this process you may see a message which states that a connection cannot be made using SSL. If you do, select the option to try without SSL.

Once this has been completed, your account will be active.
