GoldMine v6 - Creating a POP Account

The following steps will assist you in setting your e-mail account up in Goldmine v6:

1. Open GoldMine.

2. From the menu, click on Edit, followed by Preferences.

3. When the Preferences window opens, select the Internet tab.

4. You will be prompted for the following information:

  • POP3 server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • Username: enter your entire e-mail address using lowercase characters (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: enter the password for this e-mail account.
  • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • Your return address: enter your email address (e.g.: mail@example.com).

5. Click on the Accounts button. This will open the Internet Preferences window.

6. Highlight your account and click on the Edit button.

7. In the E-mail Account Properties window, you will be prompted for the following:

  • Account Name: this is a description of the account.
  • POP3 server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • Username: enter your entire e-mail address using lowercase characters (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: enter the password for this e-mail account.
  • SMTP server: mail.yourdomain (e.g.: mail.example.com)
  • Your return address: enter your email address (e.g.: mail@example.com).

8. Click on the Advanced Options button.

9. In the Advanced account settings window, enter the following:

  • POP3 server port: 110
  • SMTP server port: 587
  • The server requires authentication: this box must be ticked.
  • Login/Plain: this box must be selected.
  • Username: enter your entire e-mail address using lowercase characters (e.g.: mail@example.com).
  • Password: this is the same password that you use for the incoming mail server.

10. Click OK.

11. You will be taken back to the E-mail Account Properties window. Click OK.

12. In the Internet Preferences windows, click OK.
