Insecure server It does not support FTP over TLS

Q: I keep getting a message that says Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.

A: Your hosting does not require secure FTP over TLS when uploading your website.

Typically, your FTP client will prompt you for the following information before you can upload your website:

FTP Server / Host Name: ftp.yourdomain (e.g.: ftp.example.com)
User Name: exampleusername
Password: examplepassword
Your FTP client may also ask your for the server port number. If it does, then you must use port 21.

Once you have entered the above mentioned information and a connection to the server is established, your FTP client will display all of the folders on the web server which fall under your account. Your website should be copied into the folder called /public_html. Your home page should also be copied into this folder and not into a sub folder, otherwise your website will not be visible. Initially, you will see a number of files and folders within the /public_html folder. These files and folders are what displays the default landing page which was added to your domain when your hosting package was activated. Before you upload your files, you will need to remove these files and folders.

If you have trouble with your current FTP program then you can also download an alternate FTP client called CoreFTP from http://www.coreftp.com/

More information on uploading your website via FTP is available here.
